Located one hour and 30 minutes from Jaén at an altitude of 1,900 meters above sea level, La Huaca is a 4-hectare coffee farm owned by José Nicanor Zurita. Unlike many remote farms in the region, all of the land is accessible by car, making transportation more convenient. José cultivates Yellow and Red Caturra, along with Yellow Bourbon.

Like most adobe houses in the area, the farm’s house is made with a calamine roof. In addition to coffee farming, José owns an old 2000 Toyota Hilux pickup truck, which he rents out to transport local producers and deliver parcels between his town and the city. This side business provides extra income to support his wife and two children.
Harvest and Post-harvest:
The harvest runs from June to October, with cherries collected in baskets and dried for about 30 days.
